The Importance of Babymooning

Babymoons are a relatively new concept, probably created by the travel industry š Even though its kind of gimmicky, I believe that everyone should take one before welcoming their bundle of joy into their lives. Whether itās a weekend at the beach, a few days across the country, or a week away internationally, there are so many benefits for a ālast little escape.ā Though you can still travel with children (obviously š) there are definitely reasons to take a step away before they arrive.

You are exhausted when you are pregnant! It doesnāt matter how easy the pregnancy is or how excited you are to be a mom, it is tough on a womanās body! Your body is going through physical changes, hormones are constantly shifting, and youāre keeping a human alive off your own body. It is truly exhausting! Going on a babymoon gives a chance to step away from everyday life. Sleep in, lay on the beach all day, do whatever you want to help recharge and relax. Everyone loves to claim that youāll be more exhausted after the baby comes (which I donāt really agree with), but life keeps going full speed once your little one arrives. Take this moment to relax, recharge, and sleep. You deserve it, mama!

Babymoons are also a good opportunity to reignite your romance. Some days all you can think about is trying to not throw up. Some days youāre focused on inhaling as many scoops of potato salad as you can. Some days you fall asleep for the night at 7pm on the couch. It can be hard at times to keep the romance going while pregnant. Babymoons can be great because youāre on vacation to focus on yourselves and your love. This is a perfect time to reignite your spark without having other typical distractions around you. Along that note, this is a one of your last big moments as just the two of you, before the last minute hospital bag packing, putting the final touches on the nursery, and the weekly doctor appointments. This is a great opportunity to cherish the moments together without having to worry about anyone else. Order those chocolate covered strawberries, take a romantic bath together, focus on each other. Side note: make sure wherever youāre going, mention in your reservation that you are celebrating your babymoon. A lot of places will do something special for you like chocolates, free dessert at the restaurant, or a sweet card. It will definitely make the trip seem even more special.

Pamper yourself. Your body is doing so much work that you deserve a little pampering. Personally, I worked at my corporate job until and on my due date. I would get home from work and eat dinner #1, while figuring out what to make for Brad and myself for dinner #2. Then after second dinner, Iād basically pass out. Weekends were spent shopping for baby items, finishing up the nursery, and spending time with family. I didnāt have much time to pamper myself, and honestly didnāt make it a huge priority. Babymoons provide that perfect opportunity to pamper yourself with a prenatal massage, spa day, manicure, even a nice dinner. Our first night on our babymoon I downed an entire lobster on my own, and then proceeded to order dessert. Thatās how I like to pamper myself!
And of course, itās another excuse to travel. We love traveling, so any excuse we can find to go on another trip, is perfect for us šThis doesnāt have to be a long trip, an expensive trip, or anything over the top. Take this precious time as the two of you. Relax, pamper yourself, and romance the heck out of each other!
So, where did you go for your babymoon or would like to go?
